VISTA’s Working Group 2 and Working Group 3 are each offering one Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) grant for researchers interested in contributing to the study of Values in Turbulent Times. Applications from researchers at any career stage are welcome and encouraged to apply!
STSM call Working Group 2 – Methodological Challenges in Measuring Values
The WG2 mission focuses on conducting a comprehensive review of existing data collection tools and value measurement instruments. This includes:
- Compiling a corpus of relevant scientific publications
- Expanding keyword lists for literature searches
- Supporting automated content analysis
- Contributing to the drafting of a structured review report
The applicant will be hosted at the Department of Sociology, Catholic University of Croatia in Zagreb, under the supervision of Dr. Josip Ježovita. The mission runs for 2 months, starting any time after 15 May 2026 and ending no later than 15 September 2026.

STSM call Working Group 3 – Trends and Support of EU Core Values
This mission focuses on the systematic review of EU-level documents on values. This includes:
- Compiling and reviewing EU-level documents on values
- Establishing a transparent and replicable document corpus
- Developing a codebook and coding guidelines
- Conducting pilot coding of selected documents
- Contributing to a full review report on EU core values
The applicant will be hosted at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno, Czechia, under the supervision of Dr. Beatrice-Elena Chromková Manea. The mission runs for 2 months, starting any time after 1 May 2026 and ending no later than 15 August 2026.
