Towards EVS2026

Members of the European Values Study gathered on 6-7 November 2024, in Cologne for the second 2024 meeting of the General Assembly. The work started during the EVS meetings in Bucharest (October 2023) and Skopje (March 2024) provided the basis for the fruitful discussion related to the organization of the new wave of EVS, planned in 2026.

Among the topics discussed by the General Assembly, crucial issues addressed during the meeting in Cologne concerned tools for the centralized management of the survey, costs and funding opportunities, and the revision of the questionnaire.

The discussion of the questionnaire has been prepared by the Scientific Committee subgroup “Questionnaire”, led by Quita Muis. Building on the EVS-WVS common core, input deriving from the cooperation with ESS, and a substantive revision to the approach to domains of European values, the subgroup prepared a prelimanry draft that has been discussed with the National Program Directors. To preserve a maximum lenght simliar to the one of the fifth wave, National Program Directors defined, by voting, a priority list. Based on that, testing procedures will be implement for new items and wording improvements. The final version of the EVS2026 questionnaire is expected to be ready by March 2025.

On Friday 8 November, the EVS organized the well participated conference “Navigating values under pressure“, in collaboration with the European Social Survey and the World Values Survey, in the framework of the ongoing cooperations.
