To mark the 50th anniversary of its founding, the Institute of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje is organizing an international scientific conference titled
“From Stability to Fluidity: Contemporary Sociological Perspectives on ‘Normality’ in 21st Century Societies.”
The event will take place in Skopje, North Macedonia, from September 10 to 12, 2025, and will bring together scholars and researchers from around the world to reflect on how the concept of normality is evolving in today’s rapidly changing societies.
What does it mean to be “normal” in the 21st century? Are we still striving for stability, or have we entered an era where adaptability and fluid identities are the new standard? The conference aims to explore these questions by engaging with topics such as the rise of digital technologies, transformations in education and socialization, political culture, migration, inequality, and more.
